Sara Pajunen is a musician, composer and sound-artist. Her output includes solo violin compositions, ensemble-based music influenced by folk traditions, and audiovisual work using field recordings, video, archival voices and live instrumentation. Her work is a musically honest search for the future, motivated by the interaction between a deep connection to her roots and the experience of our current culture.

Pajunen has received classical music degrees in the United States and Finland, and funding from the Minnesota State Arts Board, Jerome Foundation, Kone Foundation, American Scandinavian Foundation, and the Arts Council of Finland. She was the 2015/16 Finlandia Foundation Performer of the Year and has conducted graduate studies in the Contemporary Improvisation department of New England Conservatory.
